Fortum Consumer Solutions is looking for a Market Risk Manager to join the Market Risk team. You will report to the Head of Market Risk in Corporate Risk. The preferred location of the job is in Poland.

Corporate Risk is an independent control function responsible for the development of Fortum’s risk management framework consisting of policies, instructions, methods, processes and tools, as well as for implementing effective controls to ensure exposures remain with acceptable risk levels at all times. Corporate Risk also supports business in managing risks effectively and provides management with assurance that risks are adequately measured and monitored. Corporate Risk is functionally organized within Corporate Finance with a risk reporting line to Fortum’s Audit and Risk Committee. Corporate Risk team is located in Sweden, Finland and Poland.

Your job is to maintain and develop the framework for managing the market and associated liquidity risks arising from Poland's electricity and gas retail and b2b sales and district heating businesses.

You must have:

You hold a university degree in business, economics, engineering or finance with several years of experience working with trading or hedging of market risks from the energy industry or financial sector. You have a strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience of models and methods used for quantifying market risk. In the role you will be required to analyze and interpret large amounts of complex data and be able to synthesize and draw conclusions in order to present recommendations to management for decision-making. You are skilled to manage conflicting situations and are willing to voice your opinion. At the same time, you are collaborative and are able to main good working relationships with colleagues, managers and specialists at several levels of the organisation. You are curious and solution-oriented and have a strong drive for continuous improvement. We expect that Fortum’s open leadership principles are evident in your way of working. Fluency in English is required.

 

What you will do:

In this role, you will be responsible for

• assessing and monitoring the market risk exposures of electricity and gas retail sales and b2b, and district heating businesses,
• assessing and monitoring the market risk mitigation with electricity, gas, and certificate derivatives in Polish exchanges and with the bilateral contract, as well as foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives,
• developing and maintaining the market risk management framework for electricity and gas retail and b2b sales and district heating businesses,
• reviewing and making recommendations for market risk mandates and hedging strategies,
• reporting the exposure to the market and associated liquidity risks to management,
• assisting on monitoring the credit risk exposures the creditworthiness of the counterparties in Polish retail and b2b sales
• coordinating the daily risk reporting with the Risk Control and Reporting team in Corporate Risk.

You will cooperate closely with Poland commodity trading front office, business support and financial control, and compliance experts.

Communication and training to managers and specialists at all levels of the organization is an important part of the role and a certain amount of travelling, mainly to Fortum countries, will be required.
